Makak Monkeys - What Are They Doing?
The cells were discovered in the context of a research programme that was trying to understand how we control actions like grasping generally. They are interested an understanding howwe use object shape information to guide action. The obvious interpretation for these cells of theyr truly mirroring actions is that they're the basis of imitation. But it turns out that monkeys don't imitate like that, at least in tha specifical way.
