The Buddha's Enlightenment

The buddha was raised as royalty with the duty of ruling over the people of north east india. He devoted himself exclusively to teaching his insights to anyone who would listen. Much of what he taught amounted to a re action of the religion he'd been raised with. Unlike hinduism, he taught that men and women were to reject both the paths of delight and asceticism in favour of his middle path. A doctrine of buddhism is anatman not self, the belief that you do not ultimately exist.
