The Risk of Congenital Anomalies in a Breach Presentation
A Finnish study out of Finland looked at nationwide data from 1996 to 2016. After adjusting for all the co-variables, these researchers found that fetus's in breach presentation at delivery did have an increased risk for congenital anomalies. The strongest associations were observed with congenital deformities of the hip, the CNS system, the respiratory system and the musculoskeletal system. So this study supports the theory that breach presentation is in some cases a symptom of a fundamental problem in fetal morphogenesis or function.
