The Common Pain Points of Connection Pooling
YouTube had thousands of front-end servers, each one with an open connection to MySQL. If a master went down, these 5,000 connections would instantly try to reconnect and instantly bring down the database. The biggest saving thing that we tested for YouTube was connection pooling.
