What's the Challenge of Genre Fiction?
There is room for experimentation in the, in the middle of that. The first story that I published in Elder Queen's mystery magazine was this academic trying to write something about Chekhov's lady with a lap dog at the same time that he thought his own wife was cheating on him. So there is a balance between how are you going to make sure you've got this forward driving plot and also do something stylistically different or structurally different.
