Congress has kicked the can down the road too many times. The last president to do something with congress with this was ronald regan. He made social security more solvent, but what they did is put it in place a series of cuts. For every year you raise the age, it's a seven % cut in benefits. And by raising the age, your benefit was cut by seven%. So 39 years ago, we're still seeing the effects of even though it improved the solvency of social security, not a single benefit was enhanced.
