The Importance of Stage Theories

I don't have a problem with psychologists trying to put forward models of human development. I think it gets dangerously illiberal if those kinds of stage theories about who is more or less fully human become part of public policy. When these psychological theories also become quasi-spiritual movements, there is a risk to narcissism.
