With my company, Perfect Audience, we started off using the Facebook Exchange API. When Facebook announced that they were going to launch custom audiences and sell this themselves directly, Facebook was now a competitor. That's a time when you should worry about competition. And so we sold the company. Yeah, I think a good recent example of this too is probably Microsoft Teams and Slack. But weirdly, just as often, they don't nail it.
