Pluto: The Fastest Spacecraft Ever Built

New Horizons was launched from Cape Canaveral in January 2006. It is the fastest spacecraft ever to leave Earth, travelling at more than 30,000 miles per hour. On December 6th last year mission control sent a wake-up for her final Pluto approach. The response that she was awake arrived on Earth at 2.30am GMT the following morning. After some minor glitches and a lot of prep, this happened Tuesday at 10 to 1.
