The Power of Greater Affection

The only way to deal with that affection in my life, according to Thomas Chalmers, is the expulsive power of a greater affection for Jesus. That means I need to look at and behold Jesus in Bible reading, in prayer, in worship, in community, in fasting, whatever it is. When we behold Jesus we see His mercy for us. He didn't hold on to comfort. He let go of it for your sake and my sake. And this greater affection comes with an expulsive power that puts everything else in its place.
