What Is a Fatberg?
Fatbergs are formed from a chemical reaction, very similar to what people have used to wash their bodies to making soaps. A fatberg is essentially like a giant bar of soap, except it smells much, much worse. fats, oils, and grease get into the sewer and combine with the calcium that's there - saponification begins. Think about all the stuff that might be down there. Ooh, but don't think too hard. The fatberg essentially gobbles it all up and grows and grows until it fills the pipes.
