John Preskill: From the Early Universe to the Future of Quantum Computing

The Origins Podcast with Lawrence Krauss

CHAPTER

What Are the Challenges of Quantum Computing?

Quantum computers are just getting to the point where they're arguably capable of doing interesting things. They can do something in a finite time that a classical computer would do in an either longer than the age of the universe or an unfeasenedly long time. But so there are challenges, but you can do things. One is to use individual atoms as qubits. It's 40 years since Feynman first suggested the idea and almost 28 years since she was algorithm.
