How to Emulate an Old Nakamecha Tape Machine
Trying to emulate an old Nakamecha felt like a quite good little challenge. It can give you a lot of control over things like crosstalk and wound flutter, bias, scap width, bump, and azimuth. Here's some Nakameche saturated drums. The digital recording sounded like this. Let's try a satin just on its own. Now that has the input on the satin pretty belting but it sounds nothing like the Nakameche. It needs more drive. So I experimented with a few things and thought to myself, how are we going to get this solid state drive sound?
