The affection that the French have for him says a lot about his devotion to French literature but also how people respond to him on a personal level. I think that comes through the poetry but also through the letters and I find that amazing. He was as Fran mentioned introduced to this by Lawrence Talad but who introduced him to Baudelaire and Flaubert and Berlin.
