Sectors are effectively trying to time the market, isn't it? It does align so much with the business cycle. There's also a Cape version of index funds where Robert Schiller's teamed up with Barclays. They buy sectors which are cheap and they avoid sectors which are expensive. Are these all different ways of making the same bet? Well, this is another problem which is that you get a kind of dimensionality reduction when things are highly correlated.
