Are There Any Positives for the European Capital Markets?
There are long-running initiatives to create a more formal capital markets union for Europe. I think the idea to create a proper consolidated state for Europe is a really good case in point. It's partly about easing the practicality of getting the market data for the exchanges of 28 different countries into one place. But it also has huge symbolic value because it showcases the potential scale of Europe. And just going back to retail from home, by the way, I think that really has a potential role in stimulating cross-border retail demand.
