The Gilded Age of the Hummingbird
The hummingbird became a kind of magnet for a lot of different ideas with a very questing, uncertain, traumatized post-civil war generation. The Maya and the Aztec people worship hummingbirds too and they had their leading God as the hummingbird God. So in a way these gilded age questors are going backwards and forwards at the same time.
