John dewey is most associated with a philosophical school called pragmatism, or american pragmatism. Thought was treated as a set of skills or tools that you could practise and hoe. They weren't interested in being right in the eternal, timeless sense. And william jane's talk about how faltily we apprehend the world also important. We are imperfect tools.
