The Traditional Model of Identity
In the traditional model of identity, you look around and see what do my parents need me to be? And that's who I am. Usually based on the needs of the community. The individual comes last, but the community comes first. In that traditional society, there's not a lot of freedom. There's this longing to get free, to be your own person,. live your own dreams, leave the farm, go to the city. Like Moana sings in Let It Go: "I can lead with pride"
