Do You Have a Calorie Deficit?
When calories are restricted, when you're in a caloric deficit, protein synthesis rates are just lower. This means that your body is simply not able to build a muscle tissue as effectively. Muscle building becomes very low priority for women. Menstruation also is low priority. That's why many women lose their periods when restricting their calories. And so therefore, if you want your body's muscle building machinery to work as well as possible, then you have to make sure that you are not in a caloric deficits.
