How to Value Mentorships and Apprenticeships

Mentorship and apprenticeship is about developing the person, not about having somebody hand you tools. The greatest opportunity to really be apprenticed or to be mentored is with smaller companies where you get to work with that sort of expert yourself. But what I don't want people to do is wait for the system to come around that's going to make this perfect. What's there right now is a lot of skilled people who could really use a hand and would love to teach.
