I skip straight over to blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c because high levels of blood glucose or high glycemic variability can actually oxidize that cholesterol in the bloodstream. Same thing with inflammation, CRP. Then I look at the triglyceride to HDL ratio, which is the so-called atherogenic index that's more predictive of heart disease than cholesterol.
