The Explosion of Axioms in the Universe
There's been this big explosion in interest for axioms. And that means that people have come up with many different ways to detect these particles. From the direct detection side, you have instruments like things called haloscopes and helioscopes. These are fundamentally exploiting the fact that because this axion is oscillating it'll have a coupling to light,. You could resonantly convert these axioms into photons and then detect the photons that would be produced. On the cosmic side, which is specifically what I work on, when we consider these very light axioms, that's when they're fuzzy.
