Buddhist modernism is a constellation of different ideas. It takes different forms depending on whether it's Burmese, Vapassana or Japanese Zen Buddhist modernism. I don't identify as a Buddhist exceptionalist myself and to the extent that that's a prerequisite for being a Buddhist modernist, I don't consider myself one of those.
