How to Make Imperial History a Regular History
I think there's an idea that if you want to decolonize a curriculum, you've got to stop teaching the things you normally teach. You know, it's like we teach slavery, but we don't teach slavery. So I think you can take regular stuff and I bet you can find an imperial angle. It's like the national trust of suddenly finding a load of their houses, have colonial histories. And yet the national trust is seen as the most English thing on the planet. That's not because, as I said, imperial history is not separate from regular British history.
