Pundits thrive on contrarianisms and grains of sand that become disproportionately magnified. The pundatry class is very clearly, i think, financially incentivized through the way that this content is monotized to spend. So things that seemor represent like rather small groups, disperate, fringe opinions than get blown up by orders and orders of magnitude. This drives another type of polarization, where you get this ultra dedicated group that really cares about this thing, but ultimately represents a very small fringe interest or whatever.
