What's the Before-After Difference in Mary?
Physicalism is a view that experiences are linked to brain processes. Jackson says Mary's new experience means she now knows something she didn't know before. But how do we explain this change in physically acceptable terms? We use a crude psychological model of what might be going on so as to make it clear how the story works.
