By 1982, commercial ingress was wildly better than academic ingress. Ingress actually stood for something with some French painter. It stood for the interactive graphics and retrieval assistant. Graphics was in the name because one of my colleagues down the hall was interested in building a GIS system on top of ingress. And we tried to do that. And it failed miserably. So then after Ingress, you had another even bigger head, Postgres,. I never realized that the name Postgres came from Ingress.
