Diversification: The Key to Success
I think today, even in 2015, it's still not a widely understood concept. All assets have an equal opportunity to manifest trends. So the whole model building process is an attempt to preserve that opportunity and make it as broad and robust as possible. If you backfit, if you build your model such that it captures some of the characteristics of different markets, so you trade hogs subtly differently from how you trade treasury bonds. Big, big, big difference.
