A Novel About Jean Duval
Jeanne duval was baudelaire's partner, mistress and lover for something like 20 years. All records of her birth and identity were destroyed by various means. She is in the novel by means of two paintings. Both are by painters whom baudelair was close to,. One is a painting by Gustave corbet which hangs in an open hallway at muse d'orse. And all around these two central figures are depictions of many different people who were part of courbe's life.
