D&D and the Satanic Panic
There were some fascinating studies and case studies that were done in the early 1980s. But I think with how much press the Satanic Panic got, like there have been a lot of moral panics, this one was on a new level. It scared away everybody who wanted to do research on D&D. Nobody wanted to write a grant for something that had that much bad press. And so we are still feeling the ramifications of that. We just don't have the foundational research that at this point there should be.
