Book Review - A Novel of the Same Name
i think the most radical thing she does is to show how a compulsory heterosexuality is aligned with a the class system, with imperialism. And this kind of gender alignment is deeply connected to these big ideological questions of young men sacrificing their lives for the war. i do thinkt what's going on in this book, and in others her novels, it's this need for space and freedom within sexual relations.
