The holiday season and holiday loneliness is a lot more common than we think. Loneliness is very much a mental and a cognitive function that isn't always tied to what's in our physical environment. You can feel lonely in a massive crowded room or when you are surrounded by your loved ones. Feeling down this time of the year is actually incredibly normal and should probably be spoken about more. But before then, let's do a quick refresher on the anatomy, some of the background information and the things that we ought to know about loneliness.
This week we discuss loneliness, particularly around the holiday season. Why is it that we feel so lonely during that period between the holidays and the new year, whether we are surrounded by family or spending our time alone and what are some of the explanations for this feeling.
