Is There a Difference Between the House Elf and the Canary?
This line stood out to me because throughout the books and this chapter is heavy with it, there are quick lines like this that you can easily skip over. And so on the one hand, it's like, oh, you're missing so much of the humor. But then you're right, it is sort of a tonal shift as well of like if you are just focusing on the dialogue, there's a lot of vulnerability happening in the common room there. It's almost a little bit about what you were getting with the house elves of how especially in this chapter, it feels like they're played as this pestiche.
