The Importance of Treaty Rights in the Great Lakes
Inbridge has proposed a solution to maintaining the pipe line, but many communities are calling for its decommission. Ds it's insane to think about the lakes, and collectively, they're the largest available source of surface water on the planet. And what concerns me is that no indigenous people in the great lakes we have treaty rights. An an treaty rights are more than just legal protections. They actually speak to a indigenous people's environmentalism. The choices of indigenous people and people of color matter greatly, because these are our homelands too.
