The Rise and Fall of the Cartesians
Malabranc's work is a rebuttal of Cartesian ideas. He says God gives you the script, but on the other hand, the script is still inside you. The idea that we are not affected as monads means that we have complete freedom and hence moral responsibility. But because it's me, because I'm the monad that's doing it, then that makes it my responsibility. It feels free, even though somebody did know what was going on beforehand.
