Jung turned to three different mythological paradigms. Alchemy, conflict and Gnosticism are all a projection and extraction. The transformative capacity of the unconscious is not reached without your dealing with projections. For Jung to get to that divinity, or in our language, to get to our higher knowing, you have to face parts of life where you are projecting part of yourself into life events.
