The War in Algeria

President Schaldecol in April 1961 urged the Frenchman to help him after he's been challenged by retired French generals trying to get rid of him. Charles de Gaulle himself had come to power in what was effectively a coup a few years earlier and this is all because of the crisis in Algeria which at the time we need to remember is considered very much a part of France. It's something very similar to what is going on in Russia, Ukraine in that it's a war that's going badly and the army itself turning on the regime as they try to manage it.
