The Importance of Women in the Diaspora
My family migrated to the UK in 1999 during the first era of Taliban rule. And as we've seen recently and as has become evident, Afghanistan is no place for a girl to study and have any sort of aspirations and hopes. So that's one of the reasons why we left the country. I don't think ignoring Afghanistan is ever going to be the solution. It can't be a far away problem for long. 9-11 happened because we ignored six years of Taliban rule inside the country. My hope and what so many of us have been advocating for is we don't want to return of another horrendous terrorist Islamist attack anywhere in the world.
