Both Gonzalez and Tomna are the result of terrorist attacks by ISIS in which family members of the plaintiffs died. The plaintiff's theory of liability has really changed throughout the case, including from the cert petition to the briefs. But as presented to the court, it basically boils down to saying platforms are not liable for content posted by ISIS but they are liable for recommendation algorithms that promoted that content.
