Kooplai Khan and the Mongol Empire
The Mongol Empire emerged in 1206 in Mongolia out of the unification of numerous nomadic tribes. Under Genghis Khan and then his successors the empire grew dramatically pushing east and south. Kooplai Khan was left to administer a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multi-religious population stretching across thousands of miles.
