The Breadfruit Trees of the Society Islands
Captain Cook is said to have found the breadfruit tree in a most luxuriant state. He ordered two gardeners, David Nelson and William Brown, hired for the purpose of selecting such as shall appear to be of a proper species and size. The ship was fitted out with conveniences so that it could take on boarder as many trees as from her size can be taken aboard.
