The idea of simply co existence and toleration gains some ground. It was never the official view of any state or any church that different reli on should be tolerated. But it did start to gain some hearing in the public square, especially in northern europe. One early episode that actually saw an argument for outright toleration for theological reasons was roger williams and the creation of rhode island.
