The Role of Attachment to Consumption in Capitalism
The American way of life is very attached to the economic system that has produced this monstrosity in the first place. I think it's pretty clear that we will not flourish in the next, you know, 50 years, 25 years if things continue to work as they do in our current economy. It's really hard to imagine alternatives and it's really scary. The challenge is addressing these big problems but also having the poise or solidarity to enter this space of uncertainty from what we have been told about them.
