The Deliberate Interpretation of Article 3 and the Judiciary Act
William Marbury is otherwise a non-entity of successful Maryland businessman. He's a loyal Federalist so he's appointed to this sort of plum job the last second of the Adams administration and beyond that he's a complete cipher. No one cares. He just exists as this straw man if you want to put it that way in this famous legal case. John Marshall is the Secretary of State soon to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
