What's Happening to the Amazon?
The Amazon has become an emitter of carbon rather than a carbon sink. Bolsonaro and his former environment minister, Hikado Saliz, were able to really encourage those people to go there and grab land and cut down forest and log. He's intent on opening up the Amazon to cattle ranchers, farmers, miners and construction companies that supported his campaign.
