Sometimes, social anxiety might be because people are afraid of losing their relationship with their parents. Research has shown that in socially anxious children, they often have mothers who when they interact with the child want to like play and explore them. So what will happen then is they'll avoid meeting other people to sort of preserve that relationship with the parent. But this is all unconscious stuff. Nobody's like thinking about this out loud in their head, right? This is all just sort of deep down underneath.
