The Communist Manifesto: A Transitional Period

I am totally convinced that there will be a post-capitalist period in human evolution, but not that it's going to be replaced by socialism. What I know is that if you, you know, for 300,000 years, human beings were hunter-gatherers and couldn't even conceive of a governmental system. There's a lot of places in the history of humanity where the idea of an economy without slavery would have been fanciful to them.
