Are You Using Facebook Ads to Generate Leads?

When i wasa using facebook a lot to generate leads in the old days, one of my strategies was to go into different facebook groups where i was active in. It would hold up conversations about that, so i didn't have to weed through all of them. Is that appropriate to use the search tool in that way and jump into conversations there? Or does that get stockerish? Therno: Your time is better spent creating your own posts that start conversations with people.
