Shark Week Isn't About Sharks, It's About Conservation
Shark Week from the late 1980s to around the mid-1990s was actually about conservation, and I'm not joking. Shark Week has become commercialized, sensationalized, and all the educational content has effectively been stripped right from it. The idea that Megalodon could still be roaming the ocean is a complete and total myth. Even the channel's vice president of development and production said in 2014 that these shark-a-get-in and shark-pocalypse titles weren't meant to be taken seriously.
